FLORIANA
The town of Floriana is located just on the outskirts of the walled city of Valletta. Floriana was built between 1634 and 1721 by Grand Master De Paule under the direction of Pietro Paolo Floriani.
Floriana was built to further protect the new Maltese capital of Valletta from attack, with its own awe-inspiring fortifications extending to the famous Portes des Bombes, guarding its entrance.
Floriana is not only home to several historic landmarks, but it is further beautified by a large number of public gardens present in the area, some of which offer views of the Valletta Grand Harbour and Marsamxett Harbour.
